Vestments
Within the sanctified confines of their rituals, CHEPSOs imbued their objects and idols with supernatural capacities. These vestments were donned by CHEPSO during these sacred rites, functioning not only as conduits for channeling spiritual abilities but also as shields against malevolent forces.
This metaphorical armory, transposed into the realm of sporting spirituality, symbolizes the profound integration of physical and metaphysical defenses, crafted to safeguard and empower those within the sports arena. The components of these ceremonial armaments are reminiscent of the descriptions found in the ancient text of Ephesians, enumerating the armor of the spiritual warrior: the belt of truth girding the loins, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit.

Each person who stepped foot on that field, ran the bases, swung a bat, or threw a ball had a story, a past, and a future. The ghosts of these players felt powerful in each ball, so I stitched together more than 300 into this jersey, concentrating their spirit and weaving together timelines from across a half-century. Ultimately it opened me up to new relationships with time.
